I have a simple strategy setup that puts in a LAY bet and once that is matched it enters a BACK bet at higher odds. If I stop this strategy at any point with the LAY bet still active am I right in thinking that the 'After bet' BACK bet will not get triggered and therefore leave an open position if the initial LAY bet is subsequently matched?

Yes, if you Stop strategy then it will stop executing, it will not place any new bets.

Aha. In that case is there an easy way to cancel all remaining unmatched bets and close all positions before the off once the strategy has been stopped?

Only solution is that you do it manually. You can use hedge button at MARKETS grid view, it is available for each selection when you open selections grid view.

So are you saying that the each strategy needs to be continually monitored to avoid having instances where the after bet rule is never triggered hence potentially leaving an open position?

If you stop strategy then you will have to manually exit open positions. There is no option to do that automatically, sorry.
